Admission Session 2020-2021

  • International citizens from EU/EEA/CH countries are entitled to apply under the same conditions, in terms of admissions process and study fees, as Romanian citizens if they are granted the Certificate of Recognition for the previous studies by the Romanian Ministry of Education and Research.

  • For the study programs of “Ovidius” University, fully thought in English language, citizens from EU/EEA/CH countries are offered the possibility to apply as self-funded (with EURO fees) students if they do not choose to benefit from the same rights as Romanian citizens for the admission process.

Since the Certificate of recognition of previous studies is mandatory, the admissions process has more steps:

  1. Candidates will attach and send as pdf. format, all the requested documents, as mentioned in the list of necessary documents hereinbelow, to the following e-mail address: admissions@365.univ-ovidius.ro.
  2. Department for International Students staff will check the application files for completion and validate the complete ones. Candidates whose files are incomplete will receive a guidance message meant to help them complete their files.
  3. Validated files will be forwarded from the Department for International Students to the Board of Admission of each faculty.
  4. The Board of Admission will evaluate the academic performances and personal achievements of each candidate, will issue the list of eligible candidates and rank the applicants based on their academic and personal achievements.
  5. Temporary lists with the potentially admitted candidates will be displayed, in descending order of the obtained score.
  6. For candidates who do not have a Study Recognition Certificate, the Department for International Students will forward the list of eligible candidates and their files to the competent departments of the Romanian Ministry of Education and Research (CNRED) for the issuance of the Study Recognition Certificate (Atestat).
  7. A list with admitted candidates (who have been granted the Study Recognition Certificate) is displayed in accordance to the calendar of admission for each faculty.

***Candidates will periodically check the university website or will contact the Department for International Students at the following e-mail addresses: admissions@univ-ovidius.ro or student.services@univ-ovidius.ro to obtain information in regards to the issuance of the Study Recognition Certificate.

*** Candidates that have been admitted and granted the Study Recognition Certificate by the Romanian Ministry of Education and Research must enroll at the Faculty in accordance to the calendar of admission for each faculty.

  1. Candidates will attach and send as pdf. format, all the requested documents, as mentioned in the list of necessary documents hereinbelow, to the following e-mail address: admissions@365.univ-ovidius.ro.
  2. The Department for International Students staff will check the application files for completion and validate the complete ones. Candidates whose files are incomplete will receive a guidance message meant to help them complete their files.
  3. Once a candidate’s file is validated, the Department for International Students will forward the file to the Board of Admission of each faculty.

Steps to be followed

All files will be submitted on-line at the following e-mail address: admissions@365.univ-ovidius.ro.

Candidates need a scanner or high quality photo device (phone, camera, tablet) in order to upload the requested documents.

Attention, all uploaded documents must be legible (easy to read, use capital letters!).

In order to apply for Bachelor’s degree studies, candidates must attach the documents mentioned in the list below and sent them to the following e-mail address: admissions@365.univ-ovidius.ro.

  • Copy and notarized Romanian translation of the high school diploma or equivalent diploma certified by the relevant authority of the issuing country (please see below the very important info), or, for 2020 graduates, copy and notarized translation of the Baccalaureate Certificate which contains the same grades and information that are to be included in the final high school diploma

  • Copy and notarized Romanian translation of the high school transcript for all years of high school

  • Copy and notarized Romanian translation of the birth certificate

  • Copy and notarized Romanian translation of the marriage certificate (for married candidates who have changed their names after marriage) or any other document certifying a name change

  • Copy and notarized Romanian translation of the medical certificate stating that the candidate is medically fit for the domain or study program which he is applying for as well as medical history COVID 19 related

  • Passport size photo

  • Copy of passport (pages 1-4)

  • Copy and notarized Romanian translation of a document stating the candidate’s address outside Romania (driver’s license, id, etc.)

  • English language proficiency certificate issued by Ovidius University of Constanta, after passing an on-line examination, level minimum B1 (for English language programs). Candidates coming from countries where the official language is English are exempted from the English examination as long as they own study documents that can attest the fact that they studied in English

  • Romanian Language Preparatory Year Certificate or Romanian language proficiency certificate issued by institutions authorized by the Romanian Ministry of Education and Research, level minimum B1 (for Romanian language programs)

  • Application forms for the ministry of education – Annex 2A (Application for the issuance of letter of acceptance to studies)

  • Annex 3 (Statutory Declaration )

  • Annex 4 (Declaration regarding the documents submitted to the candidate’s file)

  • General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) form

  • Annex 5 ( Own liability statement regarding the information and documents submitted by the candidate)

  • Own liability statement that the participant has respected the isolation / quarantine measures and did not take close contact with anyone confirmed with SARS-CoV2 within the last 14 days

  • Proof of file processing and application fee – 200 Euro (the fee shall be paid at BCR bank and the invoice shall be scanned and sent to the admission e-mail address.)

VERY IMPORTANT

N.B. Before submitting the documents to the admission e-mail address, the candidate must first obtain the following stamps on all original diplomas:

HAGUE APOSTIL (by the competent authorities in the issuing country). Study documents issued by Greece, Spain, Portugal and Cyprus, will hold the Hague Apostil, the rest of the EU member states being exempted.

For the states that are NOT a part of the Hague Convention, study documents must be accompanied by an authenticity statement issued by the competent authorities in the issuing country or

  • Authentification made by the Ministry of External Affairs in the issuing country, Romanian Embassy or Consular Office in the issuing country & Ministry of External Affairs in Romania

  • Authentification made by the Ministry of External Affairs in the issuing country, Embassy / Consular Office of the country in Romania & Ministry of External Affairs in Romania

  • For countries where there is no Romanian Embassy/Consular Office nor do they have an Embassy/Consular Office in Romania the study documents shall hold the stamp of the Ministry of Education & External Affairs in the issuing country

  • Exemption from authentication is allowed in accordance with the law, based on an international treaty that Romania is a part of, or based on reciprocity. Please revise the below link: (https://cnred.edu.ro/ro/lista-statelor-pentru-care-se-solicită-apostilarea-sau-supralegalizarea)

  • Diplomas issued by Moldova do not need any authentication. Diplomas issued before 2008 as well as diplomas that cannot be verified through the official portal, will have to be accompanied by an original authenticity statement issued by the Ministry of Education of Moldova.

FINAL STEP – REGISTRATION

After the Acceptance Letter is issued by the Romanian Ministry of Education and Research, candidates must follow the final steps for registering and becoming an “Ovidius” University student.

  • After the lists of admitted candidates are posted on the website, candidates have to inform the university via e-mail, regarding the decision to enroll and have to pay registration fee plus a minimum of 40% (in accordance with the requirements of each faculty) of the tuition fee in the following bank account:

  • The registration as well as the tuition fee shall be paid after the lists of admitted candidates are posted on the website;

  • Enrollments will take place in accordance with the admission calendar of UOC, not later than the first semester of studies;
  • After payments are done, you will receive a statement from the chosen faculty, confirming that you are an admitted candidate for first year studies at “Ovidius” University and you have paid the tuition & registration fee;

  • Starting with 01 October, you will receive a statement from the chosen faculty, confirming that you are a first year student at “Ovidius” University;

  • The Study contract shall be signed at your arrival in Romania;

  • All original documents (original school documents and original authorized translations) are compulsory and will be submitted to the secretary office of the chosen faculty at enrollment;

  • Until the pandemic related restrictions are lifted, enrollment of candidates can be made on-line. In this case, admitted and enrolled candidates must submit their original documents according to the current admission methodology;

  • In case of proven forgery, all rights granted through admission shall be lost and all payments towards the University are non refundable.
